The Quality Director/Manager leads the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of quality management systems across Echo Engineering’s global and domestic facilities. This role ensures compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF16949, oversees supplier and customer quality, and drives continuous improvement initiatives that align with Echo’s vision of delivering world-class quality and customer satisfaction.

  

Key Responsibilities

Quality System Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a unified quality management system aligned with ISO 9001, IATF16949, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audit programs; ensure compliance and timely closure of findings.
  • Standardize quality processes, documentation (PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions), and training across all sites.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and mentor quality teams; conduct performance appraisals and staff development.
  • Partner with Plant Managers to align site-level execution with global standards.
  • Foster collaboration, capability development, and knowledge sharing across locations.

Supplier & Customer Quality

  • Manage supplier quality programs including audits, non-conformance investigations, corrective actions, and PPAP.
  • Serve as escalation point for customer-impacting issues; ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and vendors to mitigate systemic quality risks.

Operational & Product Quality

  • Oversee PPAP process, measurement system analysis (MSA), Gage R&R, and MRB activities.
  • Validate and sign off on process changes affecting product quality.
  • Ensure product certifications from approval bodies (e.g., UL, DNV, ABS) are obtained and maintained.
  • Represent Quality in new product development projects to integrate requirements from design through launch.

Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and track KPIs: defect rates, audit closure, CAPA cycle time, yield, PPM, customer complaints, cost of quality.
  • Utilize statistical software and quality tools (SPC, FMEA, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Lead cross-facility projects to reduce cost of quality and improve performance.

   

Requirements

  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Engineering, Management, or related field.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing or automotive quality leadership.
  • Proven expertise with automotive quality tools: PPAP, APQP, FMEA, 8D, CAPA.
  • Strong experience managing multi-site quality systems, audits, and supplier quality programs.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred.
  • Lead Auditor certification for ISO 9001 / IATF16949 or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with plastic injection molding preferred.

Travel

25–35% domestic and international travel required.
