Catch22 is seeking a passionate and skilled Specialist Children and Young People Caseworker to join our Greater Manchester Victim Service. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver enhanced support to young victims of crime, helping them cope, recover, and move forward with confidence.

Job Description:

In this role, you will provide direct support to children and young people, including those at medium and high risk, ensuring they understand their rights, entitlements, and the criminal justice process. You will also co-design engaging activities with service users, deliver preventative sessions in schools and community settings, and create innovative interventions that address issues such as knife crime and child sexual exploitation.

Beyond direct support, you will coach and mentor Caseworkers, share best practice, and work with a wide range of agencies to ensure effective referral pathways. You’ll play a vital role in shaping services, from contributing to youth forums and co-creation groups to refreshing communications that speak directly to young people.

This role offers the chance to make a genuine difference to young victims of crime, working in a collaborative, supportive environment that values compassion, innovation, and inclusivity.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of GCSE-level English and Maths
  • Experience of working with highly vulnerable people

  • Strong background in working with children and young people, including youth engagement

  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues relating to children and young people

  • Evidence of successfully coordinating and delivering projects for CYP

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work effectively with multiple agencies and manage sensitive cases

  • Strong organisational and assessment skills with the ability to manage caseloads

  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and high-quality service delivery

  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly, including evenings and weekends

  • Access to a car with business-use insurance

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualification in working with children/young people.

Additional Requirements: Successful post-holders will need to have a full UK Driving License and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes. The NPPV (non-police personnel vetting) check also requires that the post-holder has lived in the UK for the past 3 years with a few exceptions. 

Contract: Permanent

Hours & work pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week. 

Salary: £27,000

Location: You will spend 1-2 days per week in GMP HQ, Newton Heath. The remainder of your time will be split between remote working and supporting victims in the community.

Screening: Successful admission to post subject to enhanced DBS check, police vetting check, and employer Right To Work in the UK check. The post-holder must have right to work in the UK. Catch22 does not currently provide a licence to sponsor visas but please see this register to see those that do.

Shift patterns:

Hours and days worked will change week-by-week on a rota basis. The work pattern will vary but start and end times of the day will be consistent across the week.

Every 4 week term will include one working Saturday (with a non-working week day during that week) and one Sunday on call.

Shift start times and end time will be between 0800-1800 and be a 7.5 hour work day.
