Are you passionate about space technology and eager to contribute to pioneering lunar exploration initiatives? Telespazio UK is seeking a talented End-to-End Communications and Navigation Systems Engineer to join our team at ESA-ECSAT, supporting the cutting-edge Moonlight LCNS project.

🌌 About the Role

As part of ESA’s Technical Directorate, you’ll play a key role in developing innovative applications for space communications and navigation. You’ll contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of end-to-end systems that will enable reliable communications and navigation services for future lunar missions.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Define and assess architectures for end-to-end communications and navigation systems across all layers.
  • Analyse system performance in real and simulated scenarios, including link budgets, data flows, and encryption/authentication functions.
  • Support all phases of industrial activities related to space, ground, and user segments.
  • Contribute to standards development (ECSS, CCSDS) and tailor them to project needs.
  • Participate in mission studies, project reviews, and procurement support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration across space and ground segments.
  • Engage with stakeholders and end users to capture requirements and validate system capabilities.
  • Explore innovative operational scenarios and use-cases for Moonlight services.
  • Support R&D activities to enhance system performance and explore new technologies.

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s or PhD in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering.
  • Proven experience in Communication and/or Navigation system engineering for space applications.
  • Solid background in space system engineering (communications, navigation, EO, or exploration).

✅ Essential Skills

  • Expertise in system design, development, and testing.
  • Strong understanding of space system engineering principles.
  • Skilled in requirements analysis and management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and risk management abilities.
  • High standard of technical documentation and presentation.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and in small teams.
