About the Role
Provides technical support and resource coordination for the operation of the Electronics Workshop at the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering (MSE). Provides consultation and board fabrication work to faculty, students, and teaching/research assistants in the efficient delivery of instructional and research laboratories and projects. Provides daily technical support and prepares regular maintenance schedules to ensure all laboratory equipment are safe and operational. Assists the supervisor in the implementation and maintenance of MSE laboratory procedures.
Qualifications
High school graduation and two years of post-secondary education or formal certificate/diploma program equivalent in mechatronics or electrical/electronics engineering. 3 years minimum experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.
- Excellent knowledge of using CAD/CAE software tools in designing PCB prototypes.
- Excellent knowledge of industry standards, applications, and equipment for electrical/electronic engineering research and education.
- Excellent knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and laboratory safety procedures (e.g. electrical safety) and equipment.
- Excellent knowledge in developing and writing system level programs for fabricated boards (e.g. Assembly, Python).
- Excellent knowledge of research and teaching activities in a laboratory environment.
