QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate endorsed in Early Childhood Eduction
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate endorsed in Special Education preferred
- 5 years of experience in Early Childhood setting preferred
- Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices such as teacher-directed instruction, literature and/or content-based reading, math problem solving and use of math manipulatives, cooperative learning and integrated curriculum.
- Current knowledge of child development theory and its implications for teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of current classroom management techniques and ability to apply strategies to provide a productive learning environment.
- Ability and skills necessary to individualize instruction.
- Commitment and ability to plan and work with a full range of students including gifted, mainstreamed special education, transitional bilingual students and students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
- Ability to work in a collaborative or team approach.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues, orally and in writing.
- Ability to work with students in multi-aged groups.
- Ability to use varied assessments, including performance tasks, portfolios and student self-assessment.
- Ongoing professional development activities, such as college course work, professional associations, workshops and inservices.
- A strong and positive attitude that each student can learn and has the right and capacity to achieve personal academic excellence.
- Knowledge/experience with new state assessment and learning requirements.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with others (e.g. community organization, early learning coalitions, public and private agencies, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services in accordance with grant outcomes and requirements.
- Consults with others (community organization, early learning coalitions, public and private agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing technical assistance to ensure programs/services are provided in accordance with grant expectations.
- Facilitates meetings to identify appropriate actions and/or develop recommendations.
- Manages grant project operations for the purpose of coordinating with ECEAP districts, community partners, and others to organize trainings, implement grant activities, manages resources, market programs, etc. to assure compliance with funding.
- Attend in-service training and continue to improve professional growth through study and experimentation to remain current in methods and techniques for instruction.
- Monitors assigned programs/grant for the purpose of ensuring stated outcomes are achieved, relevant policies and procedures are addressed, and services are efficiently provided within budgetary guidelines.
- Participates in a variety of meetings as required for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out responsibilities.
- Process invoices, contracts, mileage, and other fiscal processes in partnership with the business office for the purpose of managing the budget and grant funds.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Researches, develops and submits applications for funding for the purpose of expanding and/or sustaining the work of the ECEAP grant districts.
- Responds to inquiries of community partners, board members, early learning members and others for the purpose of providing/receiving information and/or direction as may be required for planning, developing and evaluating identified grant activities.
- Prepare and maintain required records and reports.
- Collect and interpret a variety of data.
- Serves as a resource and liaison to county early learning coalition members for the purpose of explaining procedures conveying and/or receiving information as needed for planning, developing and evaluating identified grant activities.
- Coach and instruct teaching staff regarding curriculum implementation, ECEAP standards, and Early Achievers requirements developed by DCYF.
- Maintain required DCYF data bases such as ELMS, Merit, and CECI.
- Attend required DCYF director and coaches’ meetings
- Travel off site for the purpose of performing tasks necessary to support program operations.
- Provide reports for administrative purposes.
- Direct the activities of assigned classified personnel and volunteers.
- Attend or participate in all required staff meetings and other activities deemed necessary by the District and/or program director, in order to accomplish the objectives of the position and for professional development.
- Participate in site-based decision-making processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
