JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING MANAGER
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Maintenance Engineering Manager reports directly to the General Manager
Maintenance Department employees report directly to the Maintenance Engineering Manager.
In the absence or incapacity of the Maintenance Engineering Manager, their duties and responsibilities will be undertaken by the General Manager
DUTIES:
- Direct maintenance activity strategy within the plant to allow the highest level of production efficiency while maintaining equipment longevity and product quality. Coordinate and manage continuous improvement opportunities within the plant.
- Work closely as a team and in support of the Plant Manager and other department managers. Show a united front as a team when strategies and direction is given.
- Maintain regulatory compliance with ammonia and electrical programs and provide leadership on safety compliance and initiatives in the plant.
- Provide major budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures, and work with various plant departments to manage and coordinate capital projects.
- Oversee development and execution of maintenance operating plans/budget.
- Oversee development and execution of departmental SOPs for maintenance, parts, inventory, energy management, and other departmental functions.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
- Address performance issues in a timely, consistent, and confidential manner
- Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance individual and team performance
- Build teamwork by treating people with respect and encouraging cooperation, involvement, and information sharing.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory product safety requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar field preferred.
- 5 years of progressive involvement managing a maintenance department with supervisory experience.
- Previous experience managing facility and manufacturing maintenance, Food industry is preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in construction or maintenance and repair of production equipment, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge in project management, safety, production
- Great analytical and math skills
- Ammonia Refrigeration Management (ARM) knowledge preferred
- Incredible problem-solving abilities
- Ability to collaborate with many other teams
- PM development experience
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
- Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Weekend and off-shift work (on call) is required. Some travel is required.
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Administration: Individual workspace, desk, and computer. May not be temperature controlled, could have loud background noises. May include entering production facility and walking on uneven, slippery surfaces and encountering forklift traffic. Requires sitting in office environment. Majority of shift includes standing and walking to accomplish tasks. May require stooping, bending, and crouching to file, retrieve supplies. Occasional lifting of 50 pounds.
Production: Space can be crowded with manufacturing equipment. Must remain aware of forklift traffic. Noisy; some areas will be wet. May encounter extremes in temperature – hot outside and cold inside. Requires standing entire shift, walking on uneven, slippery surfaces, stooping, bending, and crouching and climbing ladders. Duties may include repetitive motion of hands and lifting up to 55 pounds.
