Carilion Clinic has an excellent opportunity for an HR Specialist I in our HR Operations department. Responsible for answering FMLA and general leave and disability questions related to eligibility, policies, coding time and vendor management. The HR Specialist 1 will collaborate with our Benefits/Leave/Employee Relations team to help provide guidance to employees, leaders and leave/disability vendor to answer questions, understanding and communicating leave and FMLA guidelines, keying leave time in UKG and contribute to other leave duties as needed. Expected to work under minimal management supervision and in a matrix environment. Uses discretion and/or good judgment on more complex subjects and understands the expectation for confidentiality.

What We Require:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or 8 years equivalent experience required.
Experience: One year’s related experience in Human Resources required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: None required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must possess excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills. Demonstrated analytical thinking and interpersonal skills. Must work well in a team environment and have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required. UKG experience preferred. Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to work on multiple tasks/projects while meeting deadlines. Must be able to handle a high volume of cases/calls/requests. Should have experience working with Excel spreadsheets, and exhibit flexibility in an environment of changing priorities. Extremely detail and action oriented required.
