This is a full-time, direct placement role at Super Heat Incorporated.


Job Summary: The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems in HVAC projects, which include plumbing, piping, and other mechanical installations. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and requirements to determine material, labor, and equipment costs while collaborating with project scheduling, vendors, and clients to ensure successful project bids and execution. 


Key Responsibilities: 

• Analyze Project Documents: Review blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to understand project scope and requirements. 

• Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. 

• Quantity Takeoffs: Perform precise quantity takeoffs for mechanical components such as piping, ductwork, HVAC units, and plumbing fixtures. 

• Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing. 

• Budget Development: Assist in developing project budgets and provide cost-saving recommendations without compromising quality. 

• Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks or discrepancies in project plans and propose solutions to mitigate cost overruns. 

• Bid Preparation: Compile and submit comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines. • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify specifications and resolve discrepancies. 

• Software Utilization: Use estimating software (Fast Pipe, Fast Duct) to streamline takeoffs and cost calculations. 

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, permitting, and correspondence for future reference. 


Work Environment: • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits to assess project conditions. • May require working under tight deadlines to meet bid submission schedules. Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; Relevant industry equivalent experience may be considered. 

• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical estimating or a related role within the construction industry. 

• Skills: o Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, boiler, chiller). 

o Familiarity in estimating software and Microsoft Office 

o Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations. 

o Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

o Strong communication and negotiation skills for vendor and client interactions. 

o Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills. 

• Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar are a plus.
