Position Summary
The primary objective of this position is to lead exempt, non-exempt and hourly personnel in the implementation and tracking of capital projects, equipment maintenance and process development to ensure a safe and compliant factory for the manufacturing of quality drugs products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain and improve all plant physical systems and manufacturing equipment
- Plan and control engineering, maintenance operation budgets and capital expenditures. Ensure compliance with Corporate, and Site financial policies.
- Ensure compliance to Federal, State and Corporate regulatory requirements.
- Obtain appropriate human resources to accomplish objectives. Ensure effective training and development of Department personnel.
- Coordinate activities with other organizations at Plant and Corporate levels.
- Provide interface on key issues and problems with Corporate Management.
- Ensure GMP compliance and conformance to all regulatory requirements.
- Provide the technical resolution to plant manufacturing problems on a timely basis and with appropriate urgency.
- Establish systems to resolve and prevent recurring problems.
- Identify opportunities for departmental performance improvement, develop alternative solutions to potential problem areas and establish necessary contingency plans.
- Set goals for long range planning and plant profit performance improvement.
- Oversight of the Project and Process Engineering Departments to implement and track capital projects and process improvements. This includes responsibility of the Drafting Department for maintaining current as-built validated drawings.
- Oversight of controls Department to support and maintain all control needs of the plant including visions systems, PLC’s, etc.
- Oversight of the Production Maintenance Department to support and maintain preventive and demand maintenance for production manufacturing equipment. This includes the responsibility of the Machine Shop to optimize equipment performance; provide quick turnaround of new parts and in-house development of new equipment where applicable.
- Work with Management and Plant personnel to drive a safety culture within the Plant environment.

- Broad management experience across several functional areas or businesses or concentrated knowledge of a particular discipline; considered the organization’s expert within a particular discipline.
- Can receive general direction from leader and still run a successful department.
- Low level of supervision; primarily end results oriented.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred (Engineering, MS or MBA, Registered Prof. Engineer)
- Incumbent must have a minimum of 10 years industrial experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including at least 7 years in supervisory and management positions.
- The incumbent should have a background of technical and managerial achievements.
- The position requires a very high level of resourcefulness, an ability to get things done by removing obstacles, perceiving and resolving problems, making difficult decisions with less than complete information provided, and accomplishing project and operational goals through innovative management.
- Direct accountability for capital and expense budgets for the Engineering Organization, key involvement in manufacturing throughput, and ensuring a safe and compliant factory for the manufacturing of quality drug products.
