JOB SUMMARY


The Tactical Planning Coordinator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating detailed production and labor schedules that drive efficient greenhouse operations. This role translates sales and production orders into executable plans, ensuring resources, materials, and labor are aligned to meet customer demand. The Tactical Planning Coordinator partners closely with production, inventory, purchasing, and shipping teams to optimize space, manage resources, and monitor key performance metrics. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Tactical Planning: 

  • Create and distribute detailed production schedules for multiple production lines. 
  • Optimize space utilization and planning. 
  • Work across departments to turn incoming sales and production orders into weekly/daily picking and packing schedules. 
  • Coordinate with the inventory department for weekly/daily replenishment of production materials. 
  • Work with the purchasing department to align production schedules with relevant deliveries. 

Resource Management: 

  • Schedule labor resources to meet daily operational needs.  
  • Maintain accurate schedule in external software 
  • Proactively identify and escalate potential labor and inventory resource issues 

Communication and Collaboration: 

  • Serve as a point of contact for planning-related information, communicating effectively with all departments.  
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and labor efficiency. 
  • Participate in daily and weekly planning meetings. 
  • Import production/labor schedules into dashboards .
  • Timely distribute production related documents to teams.
  • Use planning software and spreadsheets to maintain accurate records and generate reports. 

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements

  

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and hold others accountable.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to use KPIs for decision-making and planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Ability to influence across departments and work cross-functionally.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

· Forklift Driver & Trainer Certification 

· Certified Pesticide Applicator

· Associate Safety Professional (ASP)


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


Experience: 

· Preferred 1-3 years of experience in planning, logistics, or operations role, in a high volume manufacturing environment 

Skills: 

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

· Detail oriented  

· Strives for extreme accuracy in work 

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Proficiency in ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel


Education: 

· High School diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred 


Working Conditions:

· This is a full-time, in-office position

· The role is primarily office based but requires regular visits to the greenhouse and production facilities.

· Flexibility is required during peak seasons, which may include extended hours. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in varying conditions, including heat, humidity, and exposure to typical greenhouse environments (smells, noise, allergens).
