Position Purpose 
The Sales Manager within the Alaska Branch achieves or exceeds sales objectives through the growth and development of a team of sales personnel. This individual will drive profitability by creating and implementing targeted sales strategies and supporting sales personnel while executing those strategies. The Sales Manager will create positive working relationships with internal and external customers, define and negotiate sales goals and quotas, and coordinate programs and activities that work to promote LONG products and services for any areas of responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality, accuracy, standardization, profitability, compatibility, coordination and timeliness of business unit sales, proposals (including T&C’s), marketing and estimating activities.
  • Participate in and manage LONG’s controls sales marketing activities in professional organizations (i.e., ASHRAE, CAHED, BOMA, IFMA) and trade shows. Organize and develop marketing information.
  • Develop efficient, productive, and enthusiastic sales personnel through recruitment, training, supervision, leadership, motivation, moral support, counseling and performance and salary reviews. Participate in joint customer sales calls and factory visits with staff.
  • Coordinate programs, sales and management initiatives with other business unit managers and sales personnel.
  • Coordinate sales plans and promotions with appropriate factory sales managers.
  • Achieve or exceed business unit sales and profit objectives through effective supervision, training, efficient assignment and monitoring of sales personnel and accounts. Assist sales staff with targeted planning and selling opportunities.
  • Help to create a cost-conscious sales team.
  • Assign all accounts and monthly/annual sales quotas to personnel.
  • Organize and assist sales reps with customer training/sales seminars (i.e., lunch & learn, technical meetings).
  • Target and develop vertical markets, national accounts, and their respective sales strategies.
  • Maintain positive factory, customer, vendor, and supplier relationships through frequent, active contact.
  • Develop business unit sales budgets by December for the following year.
  • Effectively administer all rules for division of commission among staff.
  • Conduct on-going forecasting for manufacturers, LONG personnel needs, and market opportunities.
  • Help to resolve all customer and sales disputes through effective and peaceful interaction with operations and all pertinent business units/personnel and ensures that LONG is fairly compensated for all work performed.
  • Assist sales reps and accounts receivable personnel with account collections and other delicate issues.
  • Involve LONG management in bid and other business opportunities that present unusual or  excessive risk.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications  
  • 4-year business or engineering degree and 5 years related work experience (OR) 2-year associate degree and 7 years sales experience (OR) 2-year associate degree, 4 years sales experience and 3 years related sales management experience
  • Ability to travel to and inspect job sites and visit customer locations.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC products, mechanical and control systems
  • Extensive knowledge of DDC products and systems, installation practices and project estimating
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Also demonstrates excellent customer service and computer skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel, including upper management.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.

Physical Requirements 
  • This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • This position may require lifting to 25 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.

  • Inclement weather is possible when traveling to job sites.
