POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY
The Deputy Court Clerk/Juvenile Support performs clerical, and support functions related to the juvenile court system. This position operates a wide variety of office equipment, generates and processes confidential court documents, produces correspondence for internal and external use, answers and transfers phone calls, processes payments, and greets members of the public and other visitors.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Work is performed under well established guidelines set forth by Idaho Code and requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. These functions may be recurring in nature and narrow in scope but may also be complex requiring a broad range of knowledge of the court system.
Position Duties
- Processes new and subsequent filings from attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and members of the public;
- Utilizes and operates office equipment and software applications such as File & Serve, Navigator, and Microsoft Office Suite;
- Processes case transfers, i.e. from downtown or other municipalities;
- Maintains custody of exhibits submitted in court;
- Applies understanding of court systems and processes to properly answer questions, direct communication, process paperwork and produce correspondence;
- Audits received payments at the Front Counter;
- Acts as back up to the Front Counter, greeting visitors to the office and serving as the first point of contact for the public;
- Performs customer service by way of telephone, email and in person;
- Participates in training and shadowing as assigned;
- Works closely with a variety of other clerks, judicial staff, attorneys, law enforcement, and the public.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Cross-trains in all areas to perform the work of others for breaks, lunches, vacations, illness, etc.;
- Performs related functions as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent;
- Skill in the operation of computers;
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions;
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Ability to handle exposure to sensitive content or material related to juvenile court cases;
- Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the public;
- Ability to handle money accurately and make proper change.
Other Qualifications
- May be required to lift or move up to 25 pounds;
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
- Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, to permit the employee to function in a general office environment and accomplish tasks.
