Summary
As the Buyer/Planner I, your primary area of responsibility is to prepare and balance the production, set, and finish schedule for Wausau Homes. The Buyer/Planner I will also procure material, labor, and contract services to support these production and shipping schedules that have been set.
Purpose
To support the procurement of raw materials and labor and contract services, the Buyer/Planner I will manage inventory levels by issuing purchase orders as needed, support negotiated vendor partnerships, follow established agreements for procurement, and ensure timely delivery of needed materials/subcontract services to meet production and delivery schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Production and Set Scheduling
- Prepare, balance, and distribute the production schedule based on customer requirements, while following established production capacities to maximize production.
- Prepare, balance, and distribute the set schedule based on the production schedule while recognizing the availability of field resources to set projects
- Procure subcontract services to support production, set, and shipping schedules.
- Manage and release picking/production orders to the warehouse to support all schedules.
- Procurement
- Functional knowledge of ERP and scheduling systems/methodologies
- Procure materials to maintain adequate inventory levels that support production and service functions while holding to just-in-time acquisition of materials.
- Follow established supply chain processes including receiving and inventory control to support on-time delivery to internal and external customers.
- Ensure the performance of the supply chain from customer order through manufacture to shipment to the customer.
- Execute on established supplier agreements.
- Provide timely and accurate support to internal and external customers.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a business-related field OR a minimum of 2 years’ related buyer/planner experience in a manufacturing or construction related field
- Demonstrated understanding of basic supply chain processes and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of the construction process/procedures/materials is a plus
- The ideal candidate will bring an organized approach to business and manufacturing, strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to motivate suppliers and customers.
