Summary of role: We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Finance & Accounting to lead our financial operations and support our mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting and financial management, a passion for youth, education, and community development, and proven leadership capabilities. This position involves tracking, verifying, and entering financial transactions while ensuring the integrity of the financial statements and related accounting information for the TeamMates Mentoring Program and TeamMates Foundation.
Qualifications:.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business management, or related field required Must have passion for youth, education, and community.
- CPA required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in management, demonstrating effective leadership, strategic decision making and team development
- In-depth knowledge of accounting software, corporate principles, and financial analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- An analytical mind with strategic ability and superb organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance.
- Lead and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial strategies with programmatic and operational needs.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements including oversight of annual audit and tax returns and annual state regulatory agencies.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial partners.
- Implement and maintain robust financial systems and internal controls.
- Conduct financial analysis to ensure accurate reporting and general ledger maintenance and to support decision-making and long-term planning.
- Monitor grants, contracts, claims and other fiscal agreements and proposals
- Prepare annual budget and related reports in collaboration with CEO.
- Present financial statement reports to the Board of Directors
- Supervises organizational transactions, generate invoices, and initiate transfers of funds for approval.
- Provide recommendations to improve processes, implement new procedures or create efficiencies.
- Assures that all accounting policies and procedures are in compliance with TeamMates by-laws, as well as state and federal laws.
- All other duties assigned by the CEO and TeamMates Foundation President.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: This position works in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a flexible 40-hour a week schedule both in the office and occasionally remotely for travel and events. Local and overnight travel may be needed occasionally, as well as the aptitude to present and hold virtual learning space. The ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Physical requirements include the ability to work at a desk and in front of a computer for extended periods of time, engage in repetitive movements, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
