General Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Deputy Superintendent of Academics, the Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Accountability provides district-wide leadership and strategic oversight of academic programs, instructional quality, student performance, and accountability systems across all TMSA campuses. This leader ensures curriculum alignment, effective use of educational technology, data-driven decision-making, and compliance with state and national standards, while driving continuous improvement in student outcomes.


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field (required).

  • Doctorate in Education or related field (preferred).

  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful district- or system-level educational leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional best practices, assessment systems, and program evaluation.

  • Experience in Title I schools and working with diverse student populations.


Skills and Competencies

  • Visionary leader with the ability to design and implement system-wide academic initiatives.

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design, instructional practices, and student performance strategies.

  • Skilled in analyzing and presenting student achievement data to drive decision-making.

  • Proven ability to lead organizational change and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and public speaking skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership style.

  • Proficiency with educational technology, data systems, and assessment platforms.

  • Commitment to equity and closing achievement gaps.


Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Provide leadership and oversight for curriculum planning, development, and alignment across all grades and content areas.

  • Lead and oversee district-wide accreditation readiness and compliance processes.

  • Establish and monitor key academic benchmark standards aligned with TMSA’s mission and state requirements.

  • Collaborate with principals, assistant principals, and instructional leaders to support high-quality teaching and learning.

  • Develop district-wide academic support programs and intervention systems to meet the needs of all learners.

  • Ensure integration of effective instructional technology and EdTech resources.

  • Facilitate a formal process for ongoing curriculum review and improvement.

Assessment & Data Systems

  • Oversee planning, administration, and analysis of state-mandated and internal assessments.

  • Design, manage, and refine data systems to accelerate analysis, reporting, and instructional decision-making.

  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and clarity of academic performance data across all levels.

  • Provide professional learning for administrators and teachers on data use, assessment literacy, and instructional improvement.

  • Monitor and evaluate academic performance to ensure progress toward district-wide goals.

Accountability & Program Evaluation

  • Lead the development and implementation of accountability frameworks to ensure excellence across schools.

  • Conduct annual evaluations of curriculum and academic programs; analyze and share findings with district leadership.

  • Maintain thorough records of curriculum resources, data systems, reports, and evaluations.

  • Stay current with state mandates, accreditation standards, and national best practices related to curriculum, assessment, and accountability.

Professional Development

  • Design, coordinate, and deliver professional learning opportunities for school leaders and instructional staff.

  • Represent TMSA at local, state, and regional meetings and conferences related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth across the district.
