Lead the sourcing group to proactively manage all direct supplier-related activities while ensuring alignment with corporate initiatives and sourcing strategies. Champion initiatives that deliver the lowest total cost and meet operational goals. Serve as the primary liaison across cross-functional teams including Suppliers, Marketing, Sales, Quality, Operations, Accounts Payable, and Engineering to drive supplier performance and exceptional internal service. Own the development and execution of a business continuity plan to identify, mitigate, and reduce supply risks. Engage early in the product development process to ensure strategic sourcing input from the start.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team in executing competitive quoting processes.
  • Gathering critical data to support make-versus-buy decisions.
  • Align local sourcing strategies and decisions with Corporate Sourcing objectives for all commodities.
  • Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics to drive accountability and improvement.
  • Own and deliver the Quarterly Business Review process with the supply base.
  • Establish and update annual standard cost data; analyze and explain monthly Purchase Price Variance (PPV).
  • Identify and lead cost reduction initiatives tied to material sourcing and utilization.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Planning to resolve supplier issues and support business goals.
  • Identify and resolve quality, delivery, specification, and capacity issues with suppliers.
  • Actively support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects with sourcing strategies and supplier integration.
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans for strategic suppliers and critical commodities.
  • Generate and analyze spend reports for both direct and indirect materials to inform sourcing strategy

Expected Areas of Competence (i.e. knowledge, skills, and abilities) 

  • Must have had at minimum 3 years’ experience sourcing management with a strong understanding of Purchasing tools and best practices.
  • Project management and team building skills. Acts as a change agent
  • Knowledge in control procedures, such as the Supplier Change Notification process, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Engineering Specifications, Inspection Criteria and Work Instructions 
  • Demonstrates ownership of and ability to lead projects with a broad scope and high level of complexity and able to prioritize and complete work in a timely manner and within budget.
  • Demonstrates advanced problem-solving skills using quality and statistical tools. 
  • Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication exhibiting a high-level technical expertise, tact and discretion, and keeps management appropriately informed

 

 

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting or other business disciplines (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of sourcing, planning, engineering or manufacturing process development experience. 
  • Experience in Medical Device field preferred.

 

Travel Requirements

 Up to 10%
