Longwood at Granogue is a unique and historic property dedicated to excellence in stewardship, preservation, and innovation. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to help maintain the integrity and functionality of our buildings and grounds.
The Maintenance Technician provides hands-on technical expertise for the daily operations and upkeep of buildings, structures, and property. This role ensures all work is performed safely, cost-effectively, and in alignment with Longwood at Granogue’s values and strategic goals. The technician will plan, organize, and prioritize tasks while maintaining high standards of housekeeping and craftsmanship. Responsibilities include:
- Performing day-to-day maintenance and repairs in accordance with state and local building codes, including:
- Conducting regular inspections of structures, plumbing, and electrical systems to identify the need for repairs and maintenance
- Structural repairs, fixture reconstruction, painting, window repair, and other basic residential repairs
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting machinery and equipment issues as they arise
- Maintaining historic and modern building systems with a broad range of skills and knowledge
- Developing repeatable work procedures
- Identifying and ordering supplies needed.
- Collaborating with contractors
- Pursuing ongoing training and skill development
- Providing support for operational and emergency needs.
- Assisting grounds crew with general property cleanup as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A completed apprenticeship program or a minimum of 5 years of relevant hands-on experience
- A valid Driver’s License is required
- A Journeyman card, strongly preferred but not required
- An understanding of national, state, and local building codes
- A willingness to learn to operate equipment such as skid-steer loaders and off-road vehicles
- Proficiency with trade tools
- Familiarity with email, internet, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills
- Analytical and troubleshooting abilities
- Basic plumbing and electrical repair knowledge
- Safety awareness, including lockout/tagout procedures
- The ability to climb stairs and ladders, lift 50 pounds, stand and sit for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- A willingness to work in confined spaces
