The primary function of the Baler Operator is to operate the hogger by hogging up all unusable scrap/sheets in neat bales and delivering the bales to the appropriate storage area.
Primary Duties
- Maintain inventories of baling wire, tags and scrap bales
- Load bales on trailers, not to exceed 43,000 pounds
- Log all loaded bales on log sheet
- Blow out the scales three times per shift
- Blow out the baler two times per shift
- Keep scrap area clean
- Blow out forklift daily
- Follow LOTO procedures for the Baler
- Notify supervision for needed repairs
- Regular and timely attendance required
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping
- Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.

- Must be a certified forklift operator
- Make good neat bales weighing approximately 1200 pounds
- Safely operate hogger and hog up all unusable paper and corrugated scrap
- Maintain accurate bale/waste reports
- Weigh scrap loads. Puts scrap and/or bales on scales with forks lowered
- Record weight on both halves of bale ticket and sign it back out from scales and get off lift to read proper weight
- When loading scrap trailer, bales will be spot-checked by whoever is loading trailer and supervisor
- If a discrepancy is noted of more than 25 pounds, all bales must be re-weighed before being loaded on trailer
- When weighing bales less than 1100 pounds, a supervisor must be notified and a decision made on whether bale will be broken and re-baled
