Your Role

As a Project Manager in the Mandates and Corporate Services PMO you will be managing medium complexity projects end to end to meet compliance and other business objectives of each project.

 

Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Effectively manage medium-scale, medium -complexity projects/programs of diverse scope that may involve multiple internal and external stakeholders to implement Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBSA), state, and federal mandates and corporate services projects.
  • Develop the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts.
  • Manage project resources to meet deliverables, including forming, motivating high-performance, cross-functional Business and IT teams, which may include on and offshore resources.
  • Coordinate efforts to estimate and scope proposals.
  • Provide regular communications and project status reports to management, stakeholders, and the project team.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between project size and complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value.
  • Validate financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures by managing project costs within the approved capital and expense budgets, including trend analysis and appropriate communications and support should budget adjustments be warranted.
  • Partner with business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria.
  • Lead a project team throughout project lifecycles 
  • Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Manage project related risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies, including making recommendations to management on mitigating and / or remediating activities.
  • Assist in the resolution of conflicts regarding resources, deadlines, and standards.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to project methodology and compliance standards set by the company to develop and execute project scheduling, including work breakdown structure (WBS), milestones, critical paths, cross-functional dependencies, and overall project schedule.
  • Provide accurate project expenditure and necessary accruals to the finance team.
  • Continually update relevant business and IT stakeholders of project status and publish project status reports. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives. 
  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall and integrated delivery plan. 
  • Ensure all projects meet success parameters and ROI targets stated in the business case. 
  • Assist, share learning, and mentor others within the PMO regarding standards, organizational understanding, and relationship building to promote the successful delivery of projects.

Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 5 years of direct Project Management experience with healthcare payer operations
  • Candidate must have hands-on experience in project/program resource planning, reporting, and prioritization with both on-shore and off-shore staff
  • Health Care experience with Commercial, Individual, Family and Medi-Care lines of business
  • Project budgeting and project financial reconciliation experience preferred
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Association mandate experience preferred
  • Experience in using Agile methodology to deliver projects in a corporate environment desired
  • PMP Certification preferred

o   Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.

  • On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
