SUMMARY OF JOB:The Hospitalist Site Medical Director (HMD) is responsible for the success of the Hospitalist Medicine Program. The HMD is responsible for the oversight and support of all clinical and non-clinical activities provided as part of the Hospitalist Program. The HMD is responsible for creating a culture of service and performance and ensuring that the hospitalists are engaged and their efforts are aligned with the quality, safety and efficiency goals of the hospital. The HMD will create a strong team and develop a strong partnership between the hospitalists, emergency medicine physicians, specialists, physician advisor, nursing, care management, IT and all other departments. The HMD participates in committees as assigned.
Reporting Relationship:
- Reports to the Hospital Chief Medical Officer and Chief Administrative Officer/Executive Vice President.
- The medical director will maintain a full time Monday-Friday presence and available on weekends as needed.
- The medical director will manage a reduced patient census and in addition be available for surge protection and coverage.
- Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with a current license to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Board Certified in Internal Medicine
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent clinical skills.
- Current or eligible member in good standing of the Active Medical Staff of the hospital.
- Experience in a physician leadership role preferred.
- Society of Hospital medicine membership preferred.
- ACLS required.
