Salary Range: $43,950.40 - $77,272.00

Job Description: 

Position available for a person to perform locating and marking underground facilities (i.e.; water, sewer, gas, electric, and communication lines owned by Greenville Utilities). Specific locating duties include: making timely response to emergency requests; installing clamp inside electric transformers to induce locating signals on underground electric lines; using a variety of locating equipment, including a Ground Penetrating Radar device; using a laptop computer to view web ticket management system and GIS ArcMap to access utility maps and records and make redline corrections. Coordinates with the commission’s operating departments and outside parties to meet their locating requests; visibly check operating departments facilities for any problems (example: valve cover missing, guy wire down, wash out area, etc.); Investigates damages to underground facilities to determine cause of damage and responsible party when Damage Prevention Supervisor or Senior Damage Prevention Technician is not available.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $43,950.40 - $56,056.00

Minimum Requirements:

• At least one (1) year of locating experience and be capable of performing all operating procedures
• Able to effectively communicate with internal staff as well as the general public
• Safety-oriented
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license
• Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. is required

Damage Prevention Technician II

Anticipated Hiring Range: $49,836.80 - $65,564.80

Minimum Requirements:

• Five (5) years of locating experience and be capable of performing all operating procedures
• Able to effectively communicate with internal staff as well as the general public
• Safety-oriented
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license
• Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. is required

This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
