Position Summary: 

This position includes, but not limited, to operating the Cryovac packaging machines at acceptable OEE and quality levels. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Bag all smoked meats items as needed. 

  • Change bags as necessary. 

  • Remove product from forms and racks when needed. 

  • Set up and run all equipment and change dies, films, and labels. 

  • Tear down and clean machines at the end of the shift. 

  • Perform routine autonomous maintenance on the Cryovac and baggers to include installing and removing seal bars daily. 

  • Know and understand all labeling, dating, film bags, and boxes needs for all products. 

  • Observe all safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures to include process checks, HACCP checks, and accurately record and report product information documentation as directed. 

  • Audit packages for leakers in the packaging room and fill out appropriate paperwork associated with the leaker check program.  

  • Perform leaker evaluation to include root cause analysis and notify the operators of any problem with leaker online. 

  • Perform metal checks. 

  • Inform management of any ongoing issues related to product quality, safety, and package integrity. 

  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the department. 

  • Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF requirements.  

  • Perform all positions of job rotation as needed. 

  • Perform any other work as assigned by management.  

  • Ability and willingness to perform basic math functions (i.e.:  addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). 

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. 

  • Ability and willingness to complete all paperwork and accurately record and report product information. 

  • Ability and willingness to scan or input data into computer systems for all product film, boxes, casings, clips, and ingredients for all daily product runs, including changeovers. 

  • Ability and willingness to follow formulations on the computer and accurately record and report food safety or product information.   

 

Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. 

  • Ability and willingness to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 20 pounds or greater frequently. 

  • Ability and willingness to lift/lower/carry up to 20 pounds or greater with back and legs. 

  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with rapid hand and eye coordination to move product on a conveyor and/or other processing equipment.  

  • Ability and willingness to flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently. 

  • Ability and willingness to stand/walk/climb/bend for up to 10 hours. 

  • Ability and willingness to work in wet conditions and cold temperatures at 35 degrees. 

 

Preferred Skills:  

  • Machine Operator experience preferred  

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred  

  • RF Scanner experience preferred  

Requirements:  

  • 3 months of work history with the same employer
