Position Summary:
Serve as the in-house expert on audiobooks and eBooks, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, authors, key release dates, and competitor activity. Curate engaging book collections for both physical (Midwest Tape) and digital (Hoopla) distribution, and partner with the design team to create marketing materials that drive awareness and engagement with top titles and collections. Lead and implement innovative marketing initiatives to promote publishers, authors, and titles, supporting libraries and enhancing patron discovery.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must fulfill the knowledge, skill, and/or ability requirements listed below.
- Marketing Strategy – Ability to support high-level planning, research, and data-driven decision making to ensure the success of the books format. Must possess in-depth knowledge of target markets and audiences, the publishing landscape, vendor relationships, and competitive activity.
- Marketing Execution – Skilled in applying both innovative and established marketing communication principles to generate demand, drive engagement, and support revenue growth.
- Collection Development – Proficient in curating and creating high-demand collections for libraries and patrons, and experienced in uploading collections, titles, and marketing assets to the website.
- Creative Collaboration – Works effectively with design teams to develop web panels, marquees, and other marketing materials that highlight collections and top titles.
- Vendor Engagement – Ability to collaborate with vendors to encourage participation and maximize impact in marketing programs.
- Project Management – Flexibility to manage special projects as assigned by manager, while balancing ongoing priorities.
- Title Management – Strong attention to detail in monitoring new release title information, prioritizing data entry, and identifying marketing opportunities.
Skills:
- Basic Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Proficient in Excel and Google docs
- Attention to detail
- Must have the ability to read/review publications for relevant information

- Possess the ability to work independently
- Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of entertainment industry
- Experience or understanding of public libraries and their role in the community
Preferred Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, a related field, or equivalent experience such as library work
Preferred Experience:
- 3-5 years marketing experience
