Job Description

Pay Range: Starting at $31.50 an hour

Role:
The Senior Credit Risk Specialist will be responsible for assuming a leadership role in analyzing and evaluating the Credit Union's exposure to credit risk, in both loans and investments, and overall loan portfolio quality. This position is responsible for identifying, measuring, monitoring, and reporting crucial risk elements associated with credit risk, concentration risk, liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and compliance risk in each of these risk areas. This position is responsible for preparing and presenting risk reports to Senior Management Leaders, ALCO, and ERMC. This position is responsible for analyzing data that identifies adherence to policies and procedures associated with risk management responsibilities. This position provides risk management training and guidance to other team members as required.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Creation and implementation of the Credit Risk Management Monitoring program. Develops and writes procedures concerning targeted and portfolio loan reviews, investment reviews, and concentration reviews. Prepare and present reports periodically to Senior Management Leaders on areas of concern associated with targeted loan review. Prepare and present reports quarterly to ALCO and ERMC on Credit Risk review results including any elevated risk identified.

Evaluates data against lending and investment processes, policies and procedures, ensuring that they fall within the parameters of Gulf Winds' policies, standards, and regulatory guidelines. Provides timely and accurate reports of the data evaluations. Analyze and validate reports on loan concentrations, liquidity, and interest rate risk. Performs reviews prescribed by risk responsibilities. Report findings to Senior Management Leaders, ALCO, and ERMC as required.

Analyze new product offerings and policy revisions to identify risk and recommend mitigation to those risks identified. Recommends processes, tools and systems to avoid, reduce or transfer credit risk. Monitors economic environment; reports any major or critical risk issues.

Develop new processes, tools and systems to identify, assess, measure, monitor, and report risk.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Performance Measurements:
1. Provides Leadership over Credit Risk Monitoring Program for Gulf Winds. Provides recommendations for enhancements to the program.

2. Maintains knowledge of all appropriate policies, procedures, and regulations. Understands Credit Union's lending process, continually observes and monitors lending practices.

3. Provides accurate and timely reporting on completed reviews, findings, and any current risk issues that may affect Gulf Winds. Recommends mitigation and changes where applicable.

4. Utilizes system resources efficiently, develops new methods of audit and review that provide efficiencies, does research on tools and systems that detect and prevent credit risk. Networks with peers to stay on top of current trends in credit risk analysis.

5. Complies with all applicable rules, regulations and policies, including but not limited to BSA, OFAC and Physical Security.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field), or applicable work experience.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills: Knowledge of lending process and loan products. General PC skills required with emphasis on spreadsheet development, database programs, and mathematical modeling skills. Proficiency in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Access. Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak English clearly. Normally expected to work between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. but may be required to work nights and/or weekends. Must adhere to safety rules and regulations. Must be able to work and travel independently and use general office equipment such as telephone and computer.
