Description

The Recruiting Specialist plays a critical role in reaching the university’s enrollment goals through targeted outreach to transfer students, international students, and off -campus prospective students. The Recruiting Specialist is responsible for extensive travel to college fairs, community colleges, and other recruitment related events, with a strong emphasis on building goodwill and recruiting pipelines in key markets.

Student Recruitment

  •  Hit individual and departmental admission targets by providing personalized admissions counseling to transfer and international students
  •  Build relationships with academic advisors, transfer coordinators, and administrators at community colleges and other feeder institutions
  •  Conduct transfer-specific presentations, one-on-one meetings, and provide transfer credit guidance in coordination with the Office of the Registrar
  •  Collaborate with academic departments to develop seamless transfer pathways and promote articulation agreements
  •  Provide clear and timely information to prospective traditional undergraduate international students and actively support those students as they navigate their way through all the steps of the admissions and immigration processes
  •  Collaborate with the Center for Spiritual and Intercultural Life to coordinate a smooth transition to the US for all international students

Off -Campus Travel and Representation

  • Represent the university at college fairs, community college events, transfer fairs, and other off -campus recruitment events
  •  Proactively seek opportunities to engage students through classroom visits, tabling events, and transfer-specific events
  •  Maintain a professional and engaging presence at all off -campus events to encourage students to a schedule campus visit or to apply
  •  Visit local high schools to promote the Madison County direct admit program and build relationships with counselors.

Territory Management

  • Manage a recruitment territory and hit established application and enrollment targets
  •  Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, families, and school counselors through phone, email, text, and virtual platforms
  • Track and report on recruitment activities, engagement, and outcomes using the CRM (Slate) and other tracking tools.

Campus Visit Conversion

  • Encourage and support prospective students in visiting campus, including scheduling group and individual visits
  •  Collaborate with the Visit Manager to coordinate personalized visit experiences for transfer students
  •  Participate in campus events such as Transfer Days, Preview Days, and Admitted Student Days

Collaboration

  • Work closely with marketing and communication, faculty, and other admissions team members to develop messaging and materials for prospective students
  • Provide regular updates to faculty partners about prospective student interest and engagement
  • Contribute to the broader goals of the admissions team through collaborative projects, training sessions, and data-informed strategies.

 

Qualifications


Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree; Master’s Degree is preferred. Six months to 1 year of experience in higher education or relevant field is desirable. Proven experience working with and speaking to students; strong communication skills with the ability to deliver information effectively and persuasively; functional knowledge of Microsoft Office and G Suite; knowledge of PeopleSoft and Slate are preferred.

Ability to accurately assess the needs and priorities of a diverse population of individuals and groups; utilizing appropriate methods to guide or facilitate a decision-making process. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Must have strong time management and organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work in a multi tasked, goal oriented and deadline driven environment. Work requires tact, discretion and confidentiality. A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required. Travel, valid driver’s license with a clean record and access to a reliable vehicle required. Some light lifting related to travel and events. Must meet University lifestyle expectations.
