Hybrid 2025-26 Assistant Music Directors (Instrumental - Marching Band) na Lewis Central Community School District

Lewis Central Community School District is looking for a High School Assistant Music Directors for the 2025-26 marching band season. Desired applicants will have experience in with a marching band.

The typical season or commitment period for this position runs approximately August-November, though some time may be required before or after that window for planning, student development, or program support.

Job Summary: 

Under the general direction of the Activities Director and Instrumental Director(s), this position helps lead, mentor, and support students involved in extracurricular programming fostering both individual growth and team or ensemble success.

Qualifications:

• Experience with marching band and specifically either brass or visual at the middle or high school level is preferred

• Strong knowledge of techniques, practices, or strategies relevant to the specific activity

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Commitment to student development and positive youth engagement

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families

• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills

• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Willingness to follow safety protocols and district policies

Essential Functions

• Assist in the planning and implementation of practices, rehearsals, or meetings that support student learning and participation
• Support student participants in building skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging
• Promote a positive and inclusive culture that encourages collaboration, responsibility, and respect
• Maintain effective communication with students, families, and school staff
• Attend events, performances, competitions, or exhibitions as required
• Support the overall mission and goals of the program and the district
• Uphold the standards and expectations set forth by the school, district, and any relevant governing bodies (e.g., IHSAA, IGHSAU, IHSSA)

Travel Requirements:

This position may require travel to events, competitions, or performances. In some cases, the individual may be asked to transport students in a school vehicle.
