JOB SUMMARY

Coordinating the high school’s efforts in supporting students, along with staff and families, in effort to assist students in being knowledgeable about post-secondary options and meeting the requirements to achieve their goals.  This staff member reports directly to and receives evaluation from the building principal or designee. Work is monitored throughout the year.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following.  Employees in this position must be able to perform with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Provides support to students, staff, and families through college and career resources, events, and best practices on a regular basis.
  2. Oversees the day-to-day operations and events within the school’s college and career center, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment with appropriate resources available for all students, promoting a future-planning culture schoolwide.
  3. Develops recruiting and marketing plans for Secondary Alternative Schools, including application processes and timely selection and enrollment of participants into appropriate programs.
  4. Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with various public and private employers, other employment and training agencies and social service agencies.
  5. Works in partnership with school college & career staff (e.g. AVID Coordinator, Counselors, and Career Technical Education staff) to coordinate services.
  6. Provides resources and support for students with regards to financial opportunities and career opportunities & planning.
  7. Collaborates with school staff to design and deliver professional learning around college and career readiness for staff and families.
  8. Acts as liaison to middle schools providing age-appropriate resources and information.
  9. Develops and implements a system for supporting students and families in planning for pre-collegiate testing.
  10. Promotes and coordinates school participation in key college & career readiness (CCR) events, as well as partnering with staff to plan school-based CCR events.
  11. Promotes student enrollment in CTE, college-level, and AP/IB courses to ensure preparation in meeting post-secondary goals.
  12. Tracks post-secondary data for seniors, including but not limited to scholarships, post-secondary pathways, college applications and acceptances.
  13. Attends and participates in regular meetings with the College & Career teachers and AVID Coordinators as needed.
  14. Coordinates and plans CCR events in conjunction with community partners that promote professional and post-secondary skills.
  15. Works with students to develop a graduation and achievement plan to include the best program to meet academic and post-secondary goals.
  16. Proven ability to provide direct service to students and families with a diverse level of needs
  17. Ability to work with students with varying educational, social and economic backgrounds
  18. Maintain updated records and files. Ensure confidentially of all records and files
  19. Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  20. Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements
  21. Serves as a resource to families and community members regarding community agencies, events and activities.
  22. Abides by federal and state laws and school district policies, procedures and rules.
  23. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with community and staff.
  24. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required. 
  25. Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
  26. Perform such other duties (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may be assigned.

    PAY RANGE:                                   $25.92 – $31.87 per hour 

    Benefits include: District-paid premium for medical, vision and dental HSA-compliant plans. District pays PERS and contributes to HSA annually for full-time employees.

    CONTRACT LENGTH:                     183 days

                                                             

    QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                                                                                          

    • Completed 2 years of college or hold an Associate or higher degree, or successfully passed the local Paraprofessional Academic Assessment
    • Experience working in a college and career readiness program preferred
    • Bilingual preferred
