- Oversight of district/school staff in the areas of Custodial, Maintenance and Grounds.
- Establishes and administers schedules and procedures for the regular ongoing care of all school and office facilities.
- Certify payroll information for all persons under his/her supervision.
- Oversee department personnel including employment practices, orientation for new employees, supervision and evaluating of job performance, on-the-job training, work schedules, work assignments, procurement of substitutes, and daily scheduling.
- On a regular basis inspects school and confers with the principal/designee regarding care.
- Organize and implement all programs related to preventive, proactive maintenance and report all physical plant needs to the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds with recommendations for improvement.
- Make facility decisions that are both environmentally and financially prudent. Continue the BOE’s efforts to reduce energy consumption, decrease waste, recycle and reuse materials.
- Provide help, in-service and/or workshop training of departmental staff.
- Act as security and safety officer for the school district by ensuring the continual and complete operation of all systems relating to fire protection, key systems, entrances and egresses of buildings, all grounds, and general safety practices of students and staff.
- Ensure the District’s vehicle and equipment procurement, inventory and preventative maintenance. Oversee and manage use of vehicles and equipment.
- Cultivate a positive work culture that emphasizes excellent and high standards, values steady improvement, build mutual respect within the school community and rest on strong personal ethics, energy, and character.

- Supervise and coordinate emergency buildings and grounds issues, including snow removal.
- Maintain an inventory of school blueprints and building specifications.

- Address all Indoor Air Quality concerns, performs the required work to correct these concerns immediately and documents both the concern and the corrective measures taken in the IAQ Log Book for the District Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds immediate review.
- Serves as the school’s IPM Coordinator. Addresses all Integrated Pest Management concerns, performs the required work to correct these concerns immediately and shares all information with the District Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds so that he or she can document the information in the IPM Log Book as required by law.
- Interacts with the district’s architects/engineers/construction managers to ensure the supervision and timely completion of all projects.
- Closely supervises work of contractor for maintenance/repair projects.
- Use and develop a complete understanding of facilities software (SchoolDude) and manage on a daily basis in order to create, perform and delegate work orders each day. Use SchoolDude to solicit supply orders and maintain supply inventory.
- Constantly remains aware of all events on a daily basis. Effectively plans for each event by proactively speaking to all those involved in order to obtain all event set-up and breakdown requirements. Ensure that all requirements are met so that each event may occur on time and without issues.
- Ensures that the building is opened/closed, safe and ready to be occupied by all each day. Notify the Principal, the Assistant Principals, Athletic Directors and the District Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds of all issues immediately so that they may plan accordingly and as soon as possible.
- Ensures that all overtime is posted, filled and provided with instructions at least 5 days in advance or as soon as possible whenever it is scheduled at the last minute.
- Ensures all crews are practicing safe work habits and utilizing all the personal protective equipment that they have been given and have signed off on. Reports all issues to the District Supervisor of Building and Grounds immediately so that he or she can address these issues with you.
- Addresses all safety issues such as fire hazards, trip and fall, AHERA, HazCom, ladder safety, chemical hygiene, confined space, SDS, Right to Know (RTK), etc. and notify both the District Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds and the Principal of all issues immediately so that they can plan accordingly.
- Ensures that all roof drains are checked at least every Friday and definitely before, during and after heavy rain or snow fall in order to prevent roof leaks, property damage and harm to all occupants.
- Ensures that all floor drains are filled with water on a weekly basis in order to prevent sewer gases from entering the building. Ensure that all plumbing fixtures, including the irrigation system, are working properly each day and not being left to leak, drip or run.

JOB GOAL:
