Job Title: V/D Foreman
Position Summary:
The Voice Data (V/D) Foreman is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems for voice and data networks on commercial and industrial job sites. This position leads a crew of technicians and ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards, codes, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of V/D technicians and installers.
Read and interpret blueprints, project drawings, and specifications to plan installations.
Install, terminate, test, and label copper and fiber optic cabling.
Manage materials, tools, and equipment needed for projects.
Ensure all work is performed according to TIA/EIA standards, local codes, and safety regulations.
Conduct quality control checks and testing using certification tools (e.g., Fluke testers).
Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, and other trades as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation of project progress, material usage, and crew hours.
Train and mentor crew members on best practices and safety procedures.
Report job status, delays, or issues to the Project Manager or Superintendent.
