About the job:


The Staff Accountant will assist the Assistant Controllers with month-end closing for all residential and commercial properties. Complete daily accounting tasks requiring a basic level of accounting knowledge across a variety of responsibilities. Also, will include (but not limited to) posting monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, g/l variance analysis, and development of weekly and monthly financial reports. This role will support with a variety of clerical/office support as well.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform Daily Bank Reconciliations for all residential and commercial properties.
  • Perform Credit card monthly reconciliations.
  • Download all bank statements and loan statements.
  • Execute accurate and timely reporting during the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. 
  • Maintain depreciation and accrual excel spreadsheets.
  • Post Deposits/refunds received and intercompany transfers.
  • Ensure that general ledger account and GL coding are correct on all receipts and expenditures.
  • Prepare annual 1099’s.
  • Assist Assistant Controllers with quarterly inventory counts at properties.
  • Prepare Financial Statement packages for ownership.
  • Process reclasses received from property managers.
  • Monthly calculation and posting of management fees.
  • Process Bill backs from corporate to respective properties in portfolio.
  • Post Deposits as received.
  • Assist with audit functions with payables and receivables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with business major in accounting.
  • 2 years of accounting and financial experience.
  • Experience in real estate property management accounting (preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of general reporting and reconciliations
  • Ability to function as part of a team and the ability to work independently.
  • Must have good time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong data entry skills and good team player
  • Must be organized, self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication and professional attitude and work ethics.
  • Proficient computer skills in Excel, Word, QuickBooks, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with Yardi Voyage, Yardi Elevate, ResMan, and AvidXchange is preferred.
