About the Role:
The Resident Care Assistant plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to residents within healthcare and social assistance settings. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized Resident Care Assistant or Personal Support Worker training program.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and health screening.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work compassionately with elderly or disabled individuals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a long-term care facility, assisted living, or similar healthcare environment.
- Additional certifications related to elder care, dementia care, or palliative care.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Bilingual abilities to support diverse resident populations.
- Ongoing professional development in healthcare or social assistance fields.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and document residents’ physical and emotional conditions, reporting any changes to nursing staff promptly.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, promoting social interaction and mental well-being.
- Ensure residents’ living areas are clean, safe, and comfortable, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Support meal preparation and feeding assistance as needed, respecting dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to implement individualized care plans and follow established procedures.
- Assist with transportation and accompaniment to medical appointments or recreational activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect residents’ dignity and privacy at all times.
