Position Summary:

The Secondary School Programs Coordinator is responsible for the logistics, planning and execution of Omaha Performing Arts’ education programs with a focus on secondary (grades 6-12) school-based initiatives. As a member of the Programming & Education Department, the Secondary School Programs Coordinator will work closely with staff across numerous departments to deliver programs as outlined in the strategic plan. This position works under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Education. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate education programs with primary responsibilities including, but not limited to:

o Jazz Academy

o Nebraska Theater Academy

  • Work in collaboration with Education staff to assist with Student Matinee Series, Wolf Trap Early Learning Through the Arts, Musical Explorers, Disney Musicals in Schools, Classes & Camps and other programs as needed. 
  • Execute key activities within programs, such as: master classes, teaching artist training, student auditions, rehearsals and performances, teacher professional development, workshops, and associated events. 
  • Travel to schools and off-site partner locations throughout the state of Nebraska and Western Iowa to observe and coordinate programs (may include the annual NE Theater Academy workshop tour).
  • Serve as a chaperone for the national Jimmy Awards program in New York City as needed.
  • Assist with organization of photo/video content as needed. 
  • Coordinate Jazz Academy ensemble classes and serve as on-site contact. 
  • Assist with recruitment/retention of program participants. 
  • Conduct program research and assessment as needed.
  • Enter program details in room reservation, ticketing and registration software systems as needed, communicating program information across departments. 
  • Maintain program planning timelines and track data. 
  • Coordinate NE Theater Academy adjudication process. 
  • Prepare and track check requests and assist with contract processing. 
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Other duties, as assigned. 

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in a performing arts, education, or related field or equivalent preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in office administration, K-12 school, patron services, or related field preferred.
  • Some travel required, including driving and flying; clean driver’s license required.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented self-starter with excellent time-management and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint); knowledge and experience working with Tessitura and Momentus software a plus.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and interact professionally.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have an appreciation for performing arts education with the ability to work well with youth and communicate with teachers, parents and students.

Physical Demands:

  • The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • May be required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet; public events are moderate to loud.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
