Duties

PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Continuous standing, walking, frequents stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Sets up cafeteria lines, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter and beverages Serves food cafeteria style Breaks down and cleans area when meals are complete Sets up dining room tables for service, places food and beverages on tables, and replenishes items as necessary Sets up and operates dishwashers, performs preventive maintenance and cleaning Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs bowls, pots and pans Performs heavy duty cleaning tasks such as ceilings, exhaust hoods, under and behind kitchen equipment, washes floors and walls, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, sanitizes garbage cans May unload food from delivery trucks Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area Assembles and tosses fresh fruit or green salads in quantity, serves into standard serving sizes Makes cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients Makes coffee, tea and other beverages If interested in applying for this position you may preview the online application: https://apply.usastaffing.gov/ViewQuestionnaire/12787872

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks. Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

Other Information

Child Development Program (CDP) will provide 25% child care fee discount for the first child enrolled in a full-time or regular part-time DAF CDP. A 15% discount will apply for any additional children. Direct care staff must spend a minimum of 75% of their work schedule in the classroom including flex employees who average 15 hours a week. Please contact local NAF HR Office for additional information. Referral and Recruitment Incentive Awards are available to be paid to eligible CY employees until the closing date of this announcement. A signed service agreement may be required. Referral: $250.00 for an additional applicant referral who is selected for hire and stays on staff for at least 6 months. Recruitment: $1,000 for each new staff member after completion of 6 months on staff; signed service agreement required. Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
