The role
Reporting into the Platform Lead, the Platform Engineer role is a critical role within the Platforms Engineering team.
As Platforms Engineer, you will be responsible for the operational design, delivery, maintenance, enhancement & recycling of Platform/Infrastructure systems at Acenda. This includes scaling up the platform up and down, designing suitable and cost-effective solutions to improve efficiency and stability of the applications, whilst helping the business to deliver solutions at ease.
As part of a wider multi-domain team, you will interact and work closely with the Cloud and Network teams, enabling you to be involved in a variety of BAU and project work to drive synergies and consistencies across the enterprise environment.
About you
An experienced Platform Engineer with a minimum of 3 to 5+ years of experience in a similar capacity, you possess strong expertise and knowledge in Linux, acting as a subject matter expert.
You demonstrate strong technical knowledge in various Linux operating systems (particularly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, and CentOS distributions) and also working on patching and/or vulnerability management asks.
Other technical requirements include:
• Proven expertise in containerization technologies, including the deployment and maintenance of Docker containers in production environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of Linux/Red Hat access provisioning, including integration with Microsoft Active Directory for centralized authentication and authorization.
• Advanced scripting skills in Bash and Python, with the ability to automate routine tasks and support infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform and Ansible, for provisioning, configuration management, automation and orchestration.
• In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Satellite Server, including lifecycle management, patch deployment, and system provisioning.
• Experience working with VMware Cloud (VMC) and Amazon Web Services (AWS), including hybrid cloud integration and workload migration.
• Proficient in maintaining technical documentation, including process and architecture documentation using Confluence or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to perform cross-application diagnostics and root cause analysis.
• Demonstrated experience in risk management and audit compliance, including the implementation of controls and remediation of audit findings.
• Thorough understanding of operating system standard operating environments (SOEs), including risk mitigation strategies and security hardening techniques.
• Experience collaborating with external vendors, including managing third-party platforms and infrastructure support contracts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, while also providing business-as-usual (BAU) operational support.
