Job Summary:

As the Director of Product Engineering at Medefy Health you will be responsible for leading Medefy’s product-focused engineering teams, driving the delivery of innovative, user-centered features that power our healthcare navigation platform. This role bridges the gap between technology and product, ensuring that engineering execution directly supports business goals, customer needs, and long-term product strategy.

You will lead teams that own the end-to-end delivery of product experiences, collaborating closely with Product Management, Design, and Data to bring ideas from concept to launch. Acting as both a strategic leader and a hands-on mentor, you’ll ensure our engineering practices prioritize velocity, quality, and user impact.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Product & Engineering Alignment
    • Partner with Product and Design leadership to define and execute Medefy’s product roadmap.
    • Translate business objectives and customer insights into scalable technical solutions.
    • Champion a user-first mindset while balancing long-term architecture with rapid iteration.
  • Team Leadership & Delivery
    • Lead, mentor, and grow product-focused engineering teams working across web, mobile, and API-driven experiences.
    • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and accountability in fast-paced delivery environments.
    • Guide engineering managers and senior ICs in balancing speed with sustainable technical practices.
  • Technical & Operational Excellence
    • Oversee development of high-quality, scalable product features and services.
    • Drive adoption of best practices in agile development, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
    • Ensure product performance, accessibility, and reliability standards meet or exceed user expectations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as a key liaison between Engineering, Product, and GTM (Go-To-Market) teams.
    • Ensure clear communication and alignment on priorities, trade-offs, and timelines.
    • Influence product strategy with technical insights, shaping what we build and how we deliver.
  • Strategic Thinking
    • Aligns engineering output with product vision and business objectives.
    • Anticipates product scalability and adoption challenges early.
  • Technical Depth
    • Deep understanding of modern product engineering (React, React Native, Node.js, cloud-native services).
    • Balances hands-on guidance with architectural leadership.
  • Collaboration & Influence
    • Builds strong relationships across Product, Design, and Engineering.
    • Communicates effectively to create alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership & People Development
    • Inspires and retains top product engineering talent.
    • Coaches managers and ICs to grow in impact, autonomy, and leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


You must have at least the following: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ in leadership roles managing product engineering teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering customer-facing features at scale in SaaS or consumer tech.
  • Experience with modern web and mobile technologies (React, React Native, Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, REST).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong background in agile methodologies and leading high-performing squads.

Supervisory Duties: Directly supervise engineering managers and senior ICs across Product Engineering.

Travel Requirements Percentage: Minimal (0–10%)

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Remote Work Environment: This position is performed remotely in a home-office setting. The employee must ensure a quiet, private workspace free from distractions and suitable for video conferencing and focused work. A reliable high-speed internet connection is required.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (up to 8+ hours per day).
  • Frequent use of a computer keyboard, mouse, and screen; ability to type at least 55 WPM.
  • Occasional movement within the home office environment (e.g., retrieving office supplies or documents).
  • Vision abilities required include close vision for computer use and reading documentation, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Occasional light lifting of materials (up to 15 lbs), such as a laptop or office equipment, may be required.

 

Communication Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English using written and verbal channels (email, chat, video conferencing, phone).
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex written information such as healthcare documentation, performance reports, and company procedures.
  • Must be responsive and present during scheduled working hours and team communications, including virtual meetings and collaboration platforms.

  • Must be punctual, dependable, with potential for on-call duties as needed.
  • Must maintain regular attendance and meet performance expectations without direct on-site supervision.
