The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, number of months worked, as well as internal equity among our team.

Note: This position is grant-funded and is contingent upon the College's successful receipt of funding from the U.S. Department of Education. Final hiring decisions and continued employment are subject to the availability and continuation of grant funding.

Job Summary:

  • Provides academic, non-academic, and career coaching, advising, assistance, and advocacy to ensure students receive accurate and timely academic program information.
  • Provides campus-wide referrals to ensure a successful transition for students.
  • Offers students clarity on academic policies and procedures; provides expertise and knowledge on core curriculum and major program requirements; delivers accurate information regarding graduation requirements and makes referrals when necessary.
  • Develops and organizes extracurricular activities geared toward exposing and educating program participants and parents; coordinates with school counselors to plan and design aprogram that informs and involves participant parents.
  • Maintains comprehensive and accurate documentation and records regarding all program participants' contacts, activities, progress, follow-ups, and evaluations; maintains daily contact records of caseload; collaborates with school staff at target schools to monitor program participants' academic progress; conducts informal ongoing evaluations with program participants during bi-weekly meetings.
  • Identifies and recruits program participants; conducts presentations at target schools; assesses student eligibility and needs; assists in the selection of program participants.
  • Provides administrative support duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Follows up on projects, transmits information, and stays informed of departmental activities.
  • Organizes own work, sets priorities, and meets deadlines.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its participants by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; AND two (2) years of academic operations support experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Student development, counseling, advising practices, campus policies, and academic requirements.
  • Policies and procedures related to the TRIO program.
  • Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Demographic and cultural aspects of served populations.
  • Record-keeping practices.
  • The use of specified computer applications involving data processing, records maintenance, word processing, and/or standard report generation.
  • Business letter writing and the standard format for typed materials.

Skill in:

  • Providing counseling and career coaching, along with academic program support.
  • Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Using tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with program participants,  faculty, and staff.
  • Composing correspondence independently or from brief instructions.
  • Organizing and maintaining accurate records and files.
  • Operating standard office equipment.
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team goals, objectives, and activities.
