Job Summary/Purpose
The Food Service Field Trainer is the subject matter expert for culinary operations across FriendShip Kitchen locations. This role focuses on delivering hands-on training to new and existing team members in customer service, food safety, and kitchen operations. The role also plays a key role in identifying training needs related to new menu items and concepts, and implementing programs, policies, and procedures to meet those needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular training visits to store locations, partnering with General Managers and kitchen staff to support food quality, customer service, safety, and team member knowledge to ensure wicked awesome customer service (WACS) and ensure food is fresh, delicious, and ready (FREDDY)
- Deliver hands-on training in cooking techniques, food presentation, and foundational safety practices
- Ensure kitchen staff are thoroughly trained in food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety standards, and reinforce the importance of ongoing compliance through training and follow-up
- Support the rollout of new or updated products and procedures alongside the retail corporate team. Train staff on updates including product specifications, cooking and prep procedures, and placement within planograms
- Model and reinforce food safety and store security standards. Promote safety awareness and promptly report any concerns to the Senior District Manager
- Develop, organize, and maintain training programs that build culinary skills for kitchen staff
- Coordinate product quality goals with ordering, food production, waste control, labor planning, sanitation, maintenance, and task assignment
- Submit required reports to the Senior District Manager in a timely manner
- Collaborate with Retail and Store leadership to identify and address training needs
- Maintain training job aids to support consistent learning
- Provide coaching and guidance to new hires and other Field Trainers related to culinary operations
- Participate in projects and initiatives as assigned, including “train-the-trainer” programs
- Identify and implement improvements to learning processes, tools, and systems
- Attend Field Trainer meetings as scheduled
- Model and reinforce the company’s goals, culture, and values in every interaction
- Observe team member performance during training and offer feedback that supports learning and continuous improvement
- Provide timely support to store teams by addressing questions or challenges related to food operations, training implementation, or product execution
- Follow the weekly schedule assigned by the Senior District Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned

Training Completion Rate
- Conducts training sessions at 100% of assigned stores per schedule
- Ensures all new hires in assigned areas receive hands-on food service training within their first 5 business days
Training Quality & Effectiveness
- 90% or more of trainees meet performance expectations in food safety, kitchen operations, and customer service within 30 days of training
- Demonstrates use of structured job aids and training tools in 100% of sessions
Food Safety & Operational Compliance
- Store teams trained by Field Trainer maintain 95% or higher on internal food safety audits
- Reinforces safety and sanitation procedures during 100% of store visits and documents follow-up needs
New Product Rollout Support
- Trains store teams on 100% of new menu items or procedures within 7 days of rollout
- Provides documented feedback to Senior District Manager on rollout success, training gaps, or execution issues within 48 hours of visit
Coaching & Feedback
- Observes and provides on-the-spot coaching during 100% of store training visits
- Follows up with at least one actionable recommendation per visit to support team member development
Training Resource Management
- Maintains and updates all assigned training job aids and materials quarterly or as directed
- Ensures stores have access to and are using the most current training materials during visits
Reporting & Administrative Accuracy
- Submits training visit reports, documentation, and feedback to the Senior District Manager within 24 hours of each visit
- Completes 100% of assigned administrative tasks by established deadlines
Collaboration & Responsiveness
- Responds to store-level food operations or training-related inquiries within 1 business day
- Participates in 90% or more of required meetings, calls, or assigned projects
Direct Reports
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and motor vehicle record compliant with Beck Supplier’s insurance requirements
- Must have ServSafe Level II and Ohio Food Safety Manager Certification or be willing to complete this class within 90 days of hire
- Familiarity with Microsoft suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Working knowledge of local, state and federal health codes
Preferred:
- Comprehensive knowledge of health codes
- Experience developing and delivering effective hands-on training and training materials in food service
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment used in food service operations
- Experience with retail accounting systems back-office systems including PDI
- Experience with POS systems
- Previous experience in convenience store operations
- Experience with adult learning principles
- Experience with training material software
Travel Requirements and Work Schedule
- This position requires a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and travel to multiple store locations
- Occasional overnight travel may be required
