NCI is a full-service general contractor focused on providing premier services in all aspects of the construction process, from concept to completion. We manage a broad range of commercial construction projects, including new construction, tenant fit outs, and renovations. NCI services a diverse group of markets including federal, state, and local governments, as well as a variety of corporate and special industry organizations that require complex life safety and critical infrastructure needs.


Nichols Contracting Inc. is seeking an onsite, full-time Permit Coordinator for our Florida office. The Permit Coordinator will serve as the primary liaison for all permitting-related activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of applications, reviews, and closeouts. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with preconstruction, project management, design teams, and field staff.


Essentials Functions: 

  

Permit Applications & Submittals

o Prepare and complete building permit applications and supporting documentation.

o Coordinate with Preconstruction and Project Managers to identify required permits.

o Submit applications to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and track review timelines.

Document Coordination & Review

o Collaborate with the design team to ensure construction drawings meet Nichols requirements.

o Review and verify construction documents for compliance before submission.

o Facilitate revisions with the design team and resubmit as needed.

Tracking & Communication

o Maintain an accurate log of all permits, revisions, and approval statuses.

o Track permit expiration dates and notify the Project Manager of required renewals.

o Provide timely updates to Project Management and Field Teams regarding permit status.

Inspection Coordination

o Assist field teams by scheduling inspections with local building departments.

o Maintain records of inspection results and follow up on outstanding items.

Permit Closeout

o Support project teams in the closeout process by securing final approvals and Certificates of Occupancy.

Support to Preconstruction

o Assist with subcontractor prequalification documentation.

o Provide administrative support in the subcontractor bidding process.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in construction estimating or a related role (preferred but not required)
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adobe Suite experience a plus
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and mathematical skills
  • Very organized, detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take direction from senior estimators
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required
