Vaccination Conversations with Scientists is hiring a Communications Coordinator for Volunteers who will support volunteer operations by coordinating scheduling and organizing of our scientist and student volunteers. The ideal candidate will share our enthusiasm for sharing the science behind vaccination and will have excellent communication and organizational skills. Life science and/or public health background is a plus, but not required. Work will be performed mostly remotely but may occasionally require in-person presence at locations within the Ithaca area.
- Draft weekly volunteer newsletter that informs volunteers about upcoming community events and volunteer opportunities
- Organize volunteers for regular outreach events and special initiatives, including scheduling volunteer shifts, verifying volunteer training requirements, and updating event sign-up sheets
- Prepare and update volunteer records
- Gain knowledge of the organization’s services and processes and assist at community events and phone banking events
- Learn VaCS’ phone banking software and conduct training to teach new volunteers as needed
- Other related responsibilities as needed to support the team
Vaccination Conversations with Scientists is hiring a Social Media & Website Manager who will promote our mission and educational vaccine messaging through social media content curation and occasional website updates. This position will ensure our programming and community outreach efforts are shared with community members and potential donors. Life science and/or public health background is a plus, but not required. Work will be performed mostly remotely but occasionally requires in-person presence at locations within the Ithaca area.
- Create or share social media advertisements for community events attended by VaCS to promote our community presence
- Take photos and video at local community events attended by VaCS to be shared on social media platforms
- Add educational content created by VaCS volunteers to website as needed and share via social media
- Assist in migrating current website (Wordpress) to new platform
- Solicit and curate anonymous vaccine questions via website forms, social media, and from in-person events to forward to scientist volunteers. Post written answers to social media platforms.
- Review and moderate social media comments on social media platforms. This does not involve engaging or debating with commenters.
- Opportunities to assist with other projects may be available based on students’ demonstrated skills and interests.
Pay Rate: 16.50/hour
