Shelter Surgery Supervisor
The Arizona Humane Society is looking for a full time Shelter Surgery Supervisor to lead our high-volume spay and neuter department at our Papago Park Campus Monday through Friday. Our shelter surgery team plays a critical role in ensuring every animal receives compassionate, high quality medical care.

A Day in the Life:
The Shelter Surgery Supervisor will lead the daily operations of our high-volume spay/neuter and surgical services. This position oversees the surgical support team, manages workflow in the surgery suite, and ensures protocols are followed to maintain the highest standards of animal care and staff safety. As the Shelter Surgery Supervisor you will work alongside the team assisting in surgery prep, induction, monitoring, and recovering as needed. The Shelter Surgery Supervisor will support the training and development for new team members and volunteers, will work with veterinarians and other departments to ensure optimal animal care and flow, and will be responsible for monitoring surgical inventory and supply maintenance.
Job Requirements:
- High schooldiploma or GED.
- Graduation from technical school a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of veterinary surgical experience, shelter, or a high-volume veterinary clinic required.
- Previous leadership experience as a supervisor or team lead is required.
- Must have excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to solve complex problems and balance multiple priorities.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to resolve conflict.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.
There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
