Bookkeeper Job Description | Full-Time | Non-Exempt

The Bookkeeper plays a key role in supporting Dealer Trade Network’s financial accuracy and operational efficiency. This position manages daily accounting functions, ensures the timely processing of financial transactions, and maintains organized, audit-ready records. With attention to detail and a commitment to DTN’s core values, the Bookkeeper helps drive sound business decisions through accurate financial reporting.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable and receivable; match, code, and enter invoices accurately.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and other accounts monthly.
- Maintain the general ledger with timely journal entries and accruals.
- Prepare weekly cash position reports and other financial summaries in DTN format.
- Support the month-end close by providing reconciliations, schedules, and backup documentation.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial files (digital and physical).
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and process adjustments.
- Support external audits and respond promptly to auditor requests.
- Assist with payroll preparation and, over time, transition to full ownership of payroll processing for all employees and contractors, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in all financial records and reconciliations.
- Organization: Manages multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel; comfortable with payroll software.
- Communication: Clearly conveys financial information to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identifies and resolves discrepancies.
- Confidentiality: Maintains strict discretion with financial and personnel data.
- Team Collaboration: Works effectively with Operations, Sales, and HR to achieve shared goals.
Pay Details:
- Total Annual Comp Potential: $50,000
- $45,000 base salary, with a $5,000 bonus potential
- Full-Time (40 hours/week) | Non-Exempt (hourly employee) |
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of bookkeeping or general accounting experience.
- High school diploma required | Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field highly preferred.
- CPA is preferred, but not required
- Experience with QuickBooks and payroll systems (ADP preferred)
- Understanding of accrual accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
