Summary of Role/Position 

The Inventory Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily inventory operations within the distribution center. This role ensures accurate product counts, proper slotting, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies, while leading a team of associates to meet department goals. The Team Lead works under the direction of the Inventory Operations Supervisor but has latitude to make independent decisions, coach employees, and recommend process improvements. 

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong problem-solving skills, warehouse inventory knowledge, and the ability to drive performance in a fast-paced environment. 

YOU WILL: 

  • Lead and coordinate daily inventory control functions, including cycle counting, audits, bin verifications, and discrepancy investigations.
  • Monitor workflows and system reports, recommending or executing solutions to resolve inventory issues.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to inventory team members; identifying skill gaps and arrange retraining as needed.
  • Partner with Training Coordinators to ensure proper cross-training and knowledge of inventory systems.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors and Operations Managers to align staffing, process improvements, and KPI goals.
  • Support system testing, process audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document inventory adjustments in WMS (Warehouse Management System) and ensure compliance with SOPs.
  • Conduct safety checks and enforce safe work practices within the team.
  • Report daily and weekly performance metrics, highlighting wins and areas for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

YOU MUST HAVE: 

  • 1–2 years of prior leadership or team lead experience in a warehouse or distribution environment (required).
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse inventory control processes and systems (experience with WMS preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (college or technical training in supply chain/warehouse management is a plus).
  • Functional reading, writing, and math skills.
  • PC literacy and the ability to learn warehouse systems quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage others effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
