This Opportunity
We are seeking a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Site Supervisor to join our team! As a Site Supervisor, you will provide direct supervisory, technical, and administrative support for Bay West's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program. Your Key Responsibilities
- Effectively supervise and manage HHW team members and projects tasks as assigned on a regular basis.
- Effectively address conflicts, take accountability for decision-making, fulfill all commitments, and make appropriate use of internal and external resources.
- Practice open communication and cooperation to achieve common understanding with team members of similar and other disciplines
- Communicate effectively with internal and external clients in a courteous and professional manner
- Conduct daily cleanup tasks involving solid and liquid hazardous and non-hazardous material in an efficient and professional manner.
- Appropriately perform all assigned waste management tasks utilizing correct waste handling procedures and proper completion of waste management documentation.
- Understand, comply, and promote HHW Site Safety and Health Plan and Bay West’s overall health and safety culture by leading safety tailgate meetings, creating monthly safety bulletins, identifying areas of safety and health improvements, and advise staff on continual learning opportunities such as near misses.
- Maintain paperwork and data including drum logs, waste shipment paperwork, participation data, and reuse product data.
- Ability to execute all aspects of the Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) Program.
- Assist in Emergency Response (ER) clean-up activities for hazardous and non-hazardous material, loading and unloading ER equipment, and decontaminating equipment in an efficient manner.
- Actively participate on the Emergency Response (ER) team approximately one week of being on-call 24/7 every 7-8 weeks.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required, Commercial Driver's License Endorsement a plus.
- Proficient in equipment commonly utilized on Industrial Service projects (excavating and industrial cleaning).
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Proficient in hand and power tool operation and equipment mechanics.
- Possess or have access to reliable means of transportation on a 24-hour basis.
- Successful completion of pre-employment and periodic random drug testing (quarterly pool).
- Demonstrate ability to lead and supervise work for HHW crew
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current refreshers
Physical Requirements
- Ability to function in work environments that sometimes include high heat; high humidity; extreme cold; roadway traffic hazards; on water (boat operations) and confined spaces.
- Occasional work wearing a respirator; infrequent work requiring supplied air, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and fully encapsulated protective suits.
- Adequate vision and hearing to safely see teammates hand signals and hear warning communication in low light.
- Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers (including reaching, grasping, twisting, pushing, and pulling).
- Walking on uneven surfaces & climbing stairs/ladders.
- Semi-frequent crouching, bending, stooping and twisting, occasionally in tight spaces.
- Sitting in a vehicle for up to three hours straight.
- Working while standing during a 12-hour workday.
- Frequently lifting up to 10 lbs. over an 8-hour period and occasionally up to 50 lbs. over a four-hour period.
- Occasionally lifting 3-6” diameter hoses that weigh approximately 20 pounds over the head onto hose racks.
- Managing a 55-gallon drum containing approximately 400 pounds of material onto a drum dolly, then moving the drum using the dolly.
