A Brief Overview
Manage various structured securities (RMBS, CMBS, ABS) sectors in RGA portfolios and execute trades to ensure liquidity, diversification and growth of the invested assets within the different constraints imposed by the Investment guidelines. Continuously monitor the markets, develop and maintain relationships with brokers and take appropriate actions when required to achieve the company’s goals and minimize losses.
What you will do
- Monitor markets: Continuously communicate with sales and trading staff at Wall Street firms, read Bloomberg updates, and review selective research and broker emails. Maintain ongoing dialogue with in-house credit research staff to develop a comprehensive market view, with particular attention to RMBS trends and developments, guiding informed trading decisions.
- Analyze structured securities, with a particular focus on RMBS, in alignment with RGA investment policies and portfolio objectives. Execute trades to maximize investment income while managing risk and achieving total return goals.
- Integrate bottom-up credit and relative value opinions into a top-down view of the structured securities portfolio, with RMBS as a central component. Apply these insights to trading strategy through targeted sector and security selection.
- Track spreads across all sectors and sub-sectors, with heightened attention to RMBS. This includes CMBS, mortgages, ABS, and CDOs/CLOs, ensuring RMBS spread movements are closely monitored and inform trading decisions.
- Support analysts and the Middle Office in reviewing and challenging security prices across portfolios, documenting rationale in accordance with accounting standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Wall Street dealers, analysts, and strategists to enhance market access and intelligence, especially within the RMBS space.
- Maintain access to and understanding derivatives markets to manage positions with various counterparties as needed.
Education and Experience
Required
- MBA graduate and 2 years relevant work experience OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics/Finance related field with 4+ years relevant work experience
Preferred
- Experience with Blackrock Solutions, Bloomberg, and Trepp
- 2+ years experience within insurance/reinsurance industry
- CFA or significant progress towards
Skills and Abilities
Required
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of asset/liability management in#LI-MB1 an insurance context.
- Advanced understanding of fixed income markets including corporate bonds, ABS, MBS, CMBS, high yield, emerging markets, commercial loans, private placements, and alternative investments.
- Advanced skills in portfolio analysis and fixed income analytics (i.e. sector weightings, portfolio duration, performance attribution, convexity, and term structure of interest rates)
- Advanced knowledge of investment accounting and quantitative analysis
- Highly advanced knowledge of investment management systems, including trade order management, fixed income analytics and compliance.
- Advanced skills in portfolio and security-level analysis system tools.
- Proficiency in Python programming and a strong understanding of database architecture, including design, construction, maintenance, and optimization.
- Advanced MS Excel skills

Compensation Range:
$104,350.00 - $155,350.00 AnnualBase pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
