In West Africa we currently have three of five countries certified as Great Place to Work – and a target to achieve five of five.You will be based in Ghana and split your time between the offices in Tema and Tamale – as well as travel in the region to other AAK offices, in particular the regional office in Benin, and occasional visits to other AAK sites internationally.About The RoleAs the country manager for Ghana, you will be integral to our West Africa leadership team, working alongside six peers to drive our regional agenda. You will have the overall responsibility of the existing Ghana organization with about 215 colleagues, and further for exploring opportunities to improve and expand the Kolo Nafaso program. The sourcing in Ghana is divided between conventional sourcing from various trading partners and our direct sourcing program, Kolo Nafaso – through which we in Ghana collaborate with more than 180,000 women.Your leadership team currently consists of a sourcing & logistics manager, Kolo Nafaso Manager, shipping and logistics manager, HR Manager (recruiting), sustainability manager, and a finance and administration manager. The AAK operations in Ghana entail two offices, several owned and leased warehouses, a substantial fleet of vehicles, and an on-site workshop.In addition to managing daily operations, you will play a key role in driving strategic initiatives, including ensuring supply chain resilience, improving operational efficiency, and embedding sustainability across all aspects of the business. A focus on developing leadership capacity within the team will be essential to strengthen organizational capabilities and prepare for future challenges.In the region, we operate across English- and French-speaking countries; hence, knowledge of both languages is an advantage. You will report directly to the AAK Head of West Africa and operate in a matrix structure where regional support functions will help you succeed – just as you will help them.Responsibilities

  • End-to-end ownership of products and processes from sourcing to delivery of shea in Europe.
  • Overall P&L responsibility for the Ghana organization.
  • Ensure and develop security of supply in Ghana, particularly via the Kolo Nafaso program.
  • Ensure the Ghana organization and sourcing strategy is “fit for future” and continuously optimized in all aspects.
  • Drive and contribute to regional projects focused on expansion, quality improvement, and exploring alternative sourcing channels.
  • Support the local and regional people agenda, particularly by mentoring and developing younger talent to advance to leadership roles.
  • Foster strong stakeholder relationships, including partnerships with local communities, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Implement and monitor sustainability initiatives that align with AAK’s global mission, with a focus on community development and ethical sourcing.
  • Conduct market intelligence to identify trends and opportunities that drive business growth and competitive advantage.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, tax laws, and risk management frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of accountability, reliability, and performance excellence within the organization.

About You
  • Proven leadership experience within logistics and sourcing operations in African countries.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • High level of drive, urgency, and a continuous improvement mindset in West Africa’s dynamic business landscape.
  • Experience in an international company with a strong understanding of cultural diversity in West Africa.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in French is highly desirable.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative leadership approach.
  • Resilience, agility, and a proactive hands-on mindset to navigate the challenges of West Africa.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement tools, systems, and structured processes for operational efficiency.
  • Experience managing and scaling direct sourcing programs, particularly those involving partnerships with smallholder farmers or cooperatives.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and their integration into sourcing and operations.
  • Strong track record in mentoring and developing teams, with a focus on fostering leadership capacity.
