Job Summary:
Under minimal supervision, utilizes knowledge of finance and investment concepts obtained through education and work experience to take a role providing high net worth clients with a platform of non-traditional investment opportunities. Primary functions include conducting quantitative and qualitative due diligence, investment analysis (e.g., financial modeling, risk analysis, validating investment merits, etc.), and making recommendations on hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, private credit funds,, managed futures funds, and other non-traditional investment opportunities; authoring product approval memoranda directed to senior management; maintaining frequent contact with current as well as prospective fund managers; authoring whitepapers; and supporting financial advisors with requests related to alternative investments. The Alternative Investments Senior Associate will coordinate closely with the Vice President and other senior members of the Alternative Investments Group to set priorities for the alternative investments platform and to provide mentorship for junior members of the team of professionals responsible for the oversight and development of the platform.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Fosters an environment in which the alternative investments platform is managed in alignment with the firm's core values, putting clients’ interests first.
· The Alternative Investments Senior Associate may have a role in supervising, working closely with, and mentoring Analysts and Associates on the team
· Performs extensive quantitative and qualitative analysis in the preparation of research reports.
· Analyzes the investment merits and risks of nontraditional investments, including but not limited to hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, private credit funds, as well as their associated suitability for RJ clients.
· Conducts onsite due diligence for existing and prospective alternative investment products.
· Makes recommendations regarding products, including the hiring and firing of investment managers.
· Prepares product approval memos/presentations for use by the Alternative Investment Group Product Approval Committee, comprised of senior management.
· Leads presentations to the firm’s Alternative Investments Product approval committee and develops the ability of team members to do the same.
· Collaborates with the alternative investments distribution, operational due diligence, product support and operational teams, as well as the financial advisors, to expand the platform and address areas of demand.
· Transfers product knowledge and expertise by communicating with and educating other teams (i.e., operations and product support) in addition to direct financial advisor communication.
· Supports representing alternative investments in recruiting "home office visits" and client "by invitation only visits".
· Serves as an alternative investments thought leader, contributing alternative strategy commentary and market perspective for firm-wide publications as needed.
· Hosts manager meetings at the corporate headquarters and travels to other firms to conduct interviews of top management.
· Communicates material information to sales force via reports, email and telephone.
· Authors and proofreads communication to be used by the sales force, which may include detailed reports, qualitative reviews, news alerts, and/or memos regarding analyses.
· Attends and participates in industry conferences.
· Leads large projects as necessary.
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
· Advanced knowledge of complex investment products (e.g., private equity, real estate, private credit, hedge funds, etc.) and the markets in which they invest.
· Financial markets, products, financial advisory function, and investment process.
· Advanced investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry regarding applicable legislation, compliance standards, policies and procedures within assigned business area.
· Quantitative and qualitative understanding of the investment management business and performance measurement.
· Macro and micro economics and their impact on product performance.
· MS Office applications

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
o Bachelor’s Degree
· Required Disciplines:
o Finance, General business, or Economics very strongly preferred
· Minimum Experience:
o 5 years relevant experience
Licenses/Certifications:
· FINRA Series 7 & 66 licenses within 6 months of hiring
