Duties
Introduction Statement: This position is assigned to Outdoor Recreation. Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in planning and scheduling recreation programs and special events (i.e., hiking trips, rafting, etc…) for the Outdoor Recreation Center. Issues rental equipment, checks equipment for damage and instructs patrons on the proper use of the equipment. Registers patrons for activities. Prepares skis for rental to include grinding, sharpening, and waxing. Assists with maintenance, repair, and cleaning of all recreation equipment. Enters data into POS system for rental and retail inventory, issuing and receiving. Receives payments and monitors the recreational vehicle storage lot, FamCamp and other recreation areas. Sells lift tickets, entertainment, amusement park and special event tickets, and all related inventory, following required cash handling procedures and accountability. Prepares daily cash reports and deposits money daily as needed. Makes reservations for the FamCamp, picnic areas, and all rental equipment. Displays stock and inventory items so that they are easily accessible. Sends out customer confirmations and notifications as needed. Performs duties as driver and/or assistant driver in conjunction with excursions, tours, or other designated activities. Assists customers with the ordering selections of plaques, name tags, and gift items for engraving. Constructs engraved items using both powered and non-powered tools and equipment. Engraves a wide variety of materials to include plastic, metal, glass, ceramics, etc to the specifications of customer orders. Assembles parts to complete a finished product. Inspects all work for accuracy and workmanship. Performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure these units are in proper working order. Responsible for the inventory, organization, and cleanliness of the engraving shop areas. Responsible for input of purchases and end of month inventory into an inventory system. Provides customer with design proofs and must maintain communication with customer through the entire order process. Responsible for the research of quality supplies and most cost efficient to the activity. Provides input pertaining to order requirements and stock levels for both resale and supply items. Ensures safety rules are instructed and adhered to by customers, personnel, and volunteers. Position requires an uncommon tour of duty to include night, weekends, and holidays. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Experience demonstrating working with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs. Familiarity with practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment in addition to rules and procedures in a recreation program. Experience in customer service and skills working with the public. Must have skills necessary to operate basic cash register transactions and conduct inventories. Experience in the use of engraving and CO2 is desirable. Knowledge of varied and/or advance functions of graphic computer software (i.e., Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw) is recommended. This is a position of trust. Conditions of Employment: Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. Must be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 45 lbs. and satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. A valid driver's license is required. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drugs. Performance Standards: Performs all duties in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures that sales transactions are recorded according to internal requirements and that correct money is exchanged. Ensures that customers are instructed on proper use of equipment upon issuance. Exercises courtesy, tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers and co-workers. Maintains a cooperative and harmonious working relationship with co-workers. Adheres to fire, safety and facility security requirements. Must satisfactorily complete standard first aid and cardiopulmonary (CPR) training within 30 days of employment and maintain certification. With few exceptions, operates vehicles in accordance with established procedures and federal, state, and local traffic regulations. Operates the motor vehicle in a manner that minimizes violation dues to employee error or negligence. Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
