DEPUTY CLERK-VITALS
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented team member to join the Vital Records division at the Champaign County Clerk’s office! This position provides administrative and customer support for the vital records division.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Answers phones.
- Assists customers at the counter.
- Assists customers with marriage licenses.
- Processes online orders.
- Responds to e-mail and queries from vital records customers.
- Manages a daily cash drawer.
- Assists customers with special licenses such as fireworks, raffle, and liquor licenses.
- Assists Account Clerk with processing payments in the County financial system.
- Helps division with record retention and scanning.

Excellent verbal and written skills, customer service oriented, time management with ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail is paramount, ability to prioritize tasks, ability to act professionally, ability to keep confidential sensitive information, have strong analytical or problem-solving skills, and wants to work with a fun and supportive team.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)/Associates Degree and two years of responsible office/clerical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and have solid computer skills.
JOB AND WAGE INFORMATION:
This is a full-time union position.
Hours are from 8AM-4:30PM M-F, except holidays.
Pay Range: $18.00-$22.87 per hour, depending on qualifications.
