Position Summary
The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Manager role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated, innovation-minded and budget-savvy professional to contribute to Mercy Corps’ finance function and support the next phase of financial analysis in the agency.
The FP&A Manager will provide a valuable contribution to all aspects of agency-level financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting, with a focus on global support teams (“administrative” budget holders) and fundraising teams. Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Partnerships, s/he will also work across the global finance teams to support workstreams that bolster the quality of Mercy Corps’ financial forecast data.
The successful candidate will be proactive, thoughtful and inquisitive, someone who has excellent data management skills but also has a clear vision of, and a passion for, the bigger end goal. Ideally, s/he will be used to working in an international environment and fielding frequent requests for support related to budgets and financial information.
Essential Job Responsibilities
PLANNING AND ANALYSIS
● Manage underlying FP&A data in the Grants List with regular updates and quality checks
● Manage monthly report creation and distribution across MCG, MCE and MCNL budget holders
● Coordinate the quarterly forecast process with global support team (“administrative”) budget holders and the fundraising teams
● Manage FP&A projects to move from an entirely Excel-based system to using more dynamic tools within Mercy Corps’ M365 environment, including Power BI, Power Query and Power Automate
● Collaborate with the Financial Systems teams to extract data in a usable form from across Mercy Corps’ various data platforms
● Make recommendations on procedures, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of financial data
● Design and deliver guidance, tools and trainings for budget managers on budget management and forecasting
● Provide coverage for Senior Director of Business Partnerships when they are on leave
CROSS-TEAM WORKING
● Build and maintain strong working relationships across the organisation at all levels, with a focus on the global Finance teams and budget holders
● Take an agile approach and provide management and colleagues with timely information and analysis to support decision making and strategic objectives

Ï Project Management Office (PMO, under the Chief Operating Officer) and Awards Management Team
Ï Administrative and Fundraising budget holders across the agency

Knowledge and Experience
Budget and Financial Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or equivalent training and/or experience.
● 3+ years Mercy Corps eexperience including knowledge of Finance processes and budget management responsibilities;
Technical Skills:
● Advanced usage of Microsoft Excel
● Experience with financial report preparation, review and quality control
● Demonstrable analytical skills and ability to manage large amounts of data
● Experience in M365 environment strongly preferred; willingness to learn and adopt new tools is required
● Ability to gain understanding of financial reporting systems; FP&A and accounting (general ledger) software knowledge is a plus
Management Experience:
● Demonstrated experience working effectively cross-departmentally in a matrixed structure is a must, including thinking laterally about downstream needs and impacts and understanding other stakeholders’ points of view
● Project management experience leading to a successful project outcome, preferably across multiple teams
● Ability to talk about financial concepts to non-financially-minded people and help them feel comfortable and supported in managing their budgets
● Ability to maintain sensitive information

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
Travel is not an essential element to this role.
Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting.
