Job Summary
Oversees the safe and efficient operation of the Morton Salt facility in Long Beach, California. Plans, directs, and controls all aspects of the manufacturing process such as environmental compliance, production/processing, quality control, engineering and maintenance. Is responsible for the operation of the departments to operate in an efficient, economic manner in conformance with all applicable pollution, safety, GMP regulations, company policy, federal, state and local laws.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure products are produced and shipped on time to meet customer demand.
- Responsible for sufficient maintenance capability, within budget for operating department repairs and improvements.
- Manages facility budget / cost, volume and quality.
- Vessel planning and unloading.
- Ensures Environmental, Health and Safety performance and compliance.
- Manages equipment and process reliability.
- Manages production, maintenance and engineering coordination.
- Manages special project assignments.
- Manages the capital budget and portfolio management.
- Facilitates interactions between organizations.
- Manages and directs the strategic engineering initiatives.
- Establishes and ensures achievement of all unit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensures adherence to standard work processes.
- Ensures compliance with corporate standards and adherence to company policies.
- Facilitates employee performance management activities.
- Manages employee and labor relations matters in conjunction with Area Human Resources, as appropriate.
- Ensures systems and processes are in place to maintain smooth operations during employee absences and staffing changes.
- Fosters culture that values diversity and promotes respect, inclusion, cooperation and responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred); other related technical degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 6 years manufacturing experience, including a minimum of five (5) years Production/Technical/Maintenance management experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of site management experience is preferred.
